Advertising & Privacy Choices
Last Updated: 5 September 2026
How advertising, consent and analytics work in Starby, and how to change your choices.
Starby uses Google AdMob for optional rewarded advertising, and Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to collect applicable consent choices. Ads and analytics are conditional on your consent and age-category responses, on both iOS and Android.
Shared Behaviour (Both Platforms)
- Age-based protection: choosing Under 16 or Prefer not to say on the Welcome screen puts you on a restricted path: no personalized ads, no analytics, and the normal ad-consent flow does not start.
- Google AdMob: serves the rewarded ads you choose to watch. It may process device/ad identifiers for delivery, fraud prevention, measurement and personalization where permitted.
- Google UMP: presents the applicable privacy/consent form before ads or personalized measurement start, where required.
- Remove Ads: a purchasable option described in the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy; optional rewarded ads may remain available afterward as something you actively choose to watch.
- We do not promise every ad is contextual, and refusing consent never blocks basic gameplay.
iOS
- App Tracking Transparency (ATT): Apple's system permission controlling whether Starby may request the advertising identifier (IDFA) to track activity across other companies' apps and websites. If you deny or restrict ATT, Starby does not access IDFA and serves non-personalized/contextual ads where available.
- SKAdNetwork: Apple's privacy-preserving ad-attribution framework, which may be used regardless of your ATT choice.
- UMP consent: requested after the ATT prompt, where required.
- Rewarded and interstitial ad formats are used on iOS as implemented; this page does not claim banner or native ad formats are active on iOS unless separately confirmed.
- You can change ATT at any time in iOS Settings → Starby → Tracking, and reopen Google's privacy options from Starby's in-app Settings.
Android
- No ATT equivalent: Android does not use Apple's ATT framework.
- Android advertising ID / AdServices: where available and legally permitted, Google Mobile Ads may use the Android advertising identifier and Android AdServices APIs, subject to your UMP consent choices and device settings.
- UMP consent: presented before ads initialize, where required.
- Rewarded advertising is the intended Android ad format at launch. This page does not claim that Android uses banner, app-open, or standard interstitial ads unless that is separately confirmed as implemented.
- Under-16 and unknown-age users follow the same restricted, non-personalized path described above.
- You can reset or limit the Android advertising identifier from your device's Google Settings → Ads, and reopen Google's privacy options from Starby's in-app Settings.
Withdrawing or Changing Consent
- Reopen Starby's Privacy Choices from in-app Settings at any time.
- iOS: change App Tracking Transparency permission in iOS Settings → Starby → Tracking.
- Android: reset or limit ad personalization in your device's Google Settings → Ads.
- Disable analytics where the app exposes that option, via the same Privacy Choices entry.
- Contact hello@ostoya.games with any questions.
Withdrawing consent does not remove historical aggregated data that has already been processed, and does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
